What do Johnson County residents see as the biggest challenges facing our community — and what should economic development look like in the years ahead?
This week on The Johnson County Line, Sheila Caldwell and Dan Cullinane dig into the results of our first community poll, where economic development and attracting good-paying jobs emerged as the top concern among respondents. We talk about what those results may tell us, some of the realities of grant funding and economic development, and why community input matters as Johnson County looks toward the future.
We also welcome Trish Burchette, Executive Director of the ACTION Coalition, for a conversation about substance use disorder, recovery, the availability of naloxone in Johnson County and the coalition’s work to reduce stigma and save lives. Trish also previews the upcoming International Overdose Awareness Day event.
And because there’s plenty happening close to home, we take a look Around the County, including Old Butler Day, live music, a barn dance and other events coming up this weekend.
Finally, we share a little of what’s ahead for The Johnson County Line — including our developing community events calendar and ideas for future features.
Watch this week’s episode, take our latest poll and add your voice to the conversation about Johnson County’s future.
EVENT UPDATE:
The International Overdose Awareness Day scheduled for Friday, August 21 at Ralph Stout Park has been postponed until September.
